As if nature had studied the diversity of desires and demands of modern people in order to remain in touch with their pristine existence, it rewarded this area with: the dark blue clean sea, the green-eyed Bojana River and the island of Ada at its mouth, the rich Lake Shas, the long-lived olive grove, the beautiful bay of Valdano, the healing springs, the pine forest with its enchanting scent and the famous sandy beaches.
Excited by the beauty of this city, many artists were inspired for their works of art and transferred this exotic nature to the screen, such as the famous directors Živko Nikolić, Dušan Vukotić in the films “Long Ships”, “The Seventh Continent”, “The Beauty of the Sin” and others.
The charming sandy beaches are a symbol of Ulcinj’s excellence. The largest beach, about 13 km long and about 50 m wide, the Long Beach, which stretches from northwest to southeast and has the shape of an arch from Porta Milena to the Bojana estuary. It is only 4 km from the city center. With the construction zeal, especially after the 1979 earthquake, the narrow part of the city was connected to this beach as well as to Shtoj through the construction of modern houses, providing enormous accommodation potential for all types of tourists. The entire beach is made of fine sand – white and gray granules of 0.1 to 0.5 mm. The same granules form the bottom of the shallow swimming area, so swimming here can be a great pleasure, especially for the elderly, and a real pleasure for small children.
